Hong Kong, China
Hong Kong, a city-state of China, is one of the world's leading international financial centers. The lack of space caused demand for denser constructions with narrow and tall buildings that makes Hong Kong the world's most vertical city. Hong Kong means "fragrant harbor" in Chinese. The reference to fragrance may refer to the harbor waters sweetened by the fresh water estuarine influx of the Pearl River, or to the incense from factories lining the coast to the north of Kowloon. We visited Hong Kong in the late December of 2011, the first leg of the tour Hong Kong- Shengzhen- Guangzhou. Here are some pictures of the Kwum Yam shrine in Repulse bay, and narrow streets and tall buildings of Hong Kong.
