Ben Tre is a province on the bank of the Tien river (a branch of the Mekong river), about 50 miles from Saigon. At present time (2008), you need to take a ferry at Rach Mieu to cross the river to get to Ben Tre. A bridge is being built to connect Tien Giang and Ben Tre.
