Halong Bay

Halong Bay is a bay in the Gulf of Tonkin, about 170 km from Hanoi. Halong Bay is made up of 1,969 islands of various sizes, 989 of which have been given names. This densely concentrated zone of stone islands has been named a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Please vote for Halong bay as the seven wonders of the world.

We took a two-day trip to Ha Long bay with tour guide from a travel company in Hanoi. It took about three and half hours to travel from Hanoi to Halong city by car. Upon arrival,  we were transferred to a junk for a cruise around Ha Long Bay with a lunch served on board. We stayed overnight on the junk and came back to Hanoi the next day.

These are pictures of Halong bay that I took during a two-day trip to Halong bay on a wooden Junk in Christmas 2006. Watch video of Halong bay.
